Hey wrestling fans thank you for your support but I need to be more specific about what we need. Money is of course very appreciated but what really is cramping our style is no venue to give the awards away. The Sunday tournament (formerly the Jake Larson but now?) Was the tournament and venue that John and I had hoped would be our longstanding host for these awards. The complaint that we held up the cleanup of their tourney holds no weight with me. The way I understand it is they didn't even give us an option to work with. A reader of this forum suggested that we give the awards during the weighins and bracketing/pairing of the tournament. Now I feel that is a great idea and is a perfect solution, but we probably do not have that option now.

So, to detail this out for you all what we need is moola and a place to spend it. Kinda like a Vegas trip but the kids actually get to bring something back. LOL. John and I have spoken about a banquet after the state tourney and charge a per plate fee. We are worried that it may not go over, and the work it takes to get it up and running, would be extensive.

I sure do appreciate the love you guys and gals have for this site and I can only hope we can work together to keep our awards going for years to come.

I like the idea of the dinner, but I prefer the awards be given at the tournament so that the majority of the states wrestling fans can give these kids the recognition they deserve. It takes so much dedication to be both an outstanding student and athlete and they should be spotlighted at the state tournament . We all know how grueling the season is and for these boys to maintain high grade point averages as well as the time and energy they put forth day in and day out, they deserve the recognition by the entire state. I too have to say SHAME ON WHSAA! This boils down to nothing but pettiness and their ability to assert what little authority they have over the most supportive cohesive group of fans in the state.

We have new wrestlers who have moved into our state from Idaho, and they said that the dairymen of Idaho are huge supporters of wrestling and give the athletes awards each and every year at their state tournament. How is it that other states are willing to let their outstanding wrestlers be recognized yet Wyoming is not!
